From Agadez, the capital of the Saharan region, the band Etran de L’Aïr takes its music all over the world. A lot has happened since the company was founded in 1995. The current band leader Moussa “Abindi” Ibra was only 9 years old at the time. He tells us that you used to only have an acoustic guitar and used a sandal to hit a calabash as a drum kit. Over the years, the band has painstakingly collected its equipment.

The sound is now characterized by guitar riffs. Their music describes the exuberance of a Tuareg wedding. Full of energy and passion. Writer Amanda Petrusich of The New Yorker describes listening to the music whenever she wants to be reminded of what it feels like to be outside, to be among friends, to be happy and to dissolve into sound.

The family band has already played almost everywhere in their home town of Agadez. Now it’s time to bring their pan-African style to the world. After their first tour in Europe at the beginning of 2022, Etran de L’Aïr are visiting Europe again this year, so we would like to invite you to join us at the Rittergut. We open our doors at 19:00.
